Lucky Hall Of Famer Number 30 - Waite Hoyt

Waite Hoyt pitched for seven clubs from 1918 through 1938. He was a good pitcher with longevity, but never really stood out from the rest. From 1921 through 1928 he was good but not really anything special, excepting a phenomenal 1927 season (22-7, 2.63 ERA). From 1934 through 1937, Hoyt pitched decently. For the rest of his career, he was average at best.
Hoyt was really not a great pitcher. His 3.59 ERA was good only for a 112 ERA+, and he completed only 226 of his 425 starts (53.2%) in an era when pitchers were expected to go the distance pretty much every time. Additionally, his winning percentage (.566; Hall of Fame average .589) is inflated from pitching ten years for the Yankees, who won seven pennants in his time.

My opinion: Waite Hoyt is not a Hall of Famer.
